This day in Vancouver history: Jan. 3, 1994

Nirvana was wrapping up the final leg of a North American tour in support of its third and final studio album, In Utero, which debuted at number one on the Billboard album charts four months earlier.

The band also gave a comically reluctant interview with CiTR’s Nardwuar the Human Serviette backstage over pizza, in which it is revealed Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love may have first met while soused at a gig by Vancouver hardcore legends DOA in Portland, Ore. Three months later, Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home from an apparent suicide.
