Known for their broad selection of baked goods suitable for those who follow gluten-free, vegan, or sugar-free diets, Hastings Street’s beloved East Village Bakery has announced they will be closing for good this month.
Open for six years, during which time they increasingly focused on pies, breads, and treats to serve the one-time underserved population of gluten-free eaters, East Village Bakery shared news of their impending closure to their followers on social media on Jan. 11.
The last day for service at the shop will be Saturday, Jan. 19.

East Village Bakery says they don’t have any current plans to relocate.
“We thank all our amazing customers for their commitment to us – we will miss you,” says the Bakery on Facebook. “A difficult decision but the right one at this time. No future location planned at this time. Come in and see us, and watch for all the fun specials and giveaways end of next week. See you soon.”
East Village Bakery is located at 2166 East Hastings Street in Vancouver.
