The Burnaby Lake eagles are staying put.

A storm had previously blown down their nest and some worried they might leave the area.

According to Burnaby photographer John Preissl, the eagles have built a new nest close to the old one.

“This is really good news as many eagles do not build or rebuild new nests after they lose an established nest,” Preissl said.

Preissl supplied the NOW with some incredible photos of the eagles flying in and out of the nest, and as they hunted for fish and ducks - scroll through them above.

“I always practice ethical wildlife photography and keep well away from the eagles as they hunt … I stress that in all my tours,” Preissl said.
