Compliments brand chicken nuggets have been recalled from the marketplace due to a possible salmonella contamination.

The popular frozen food is sold in nearly every Canadian province, excluding Quebec. They are uncooked breaded chicken cutlets that come in a 1.5 kg package.

The recall was triggered during a Canadian Food Inspection Agency investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. On Feb. 25, Sofina Foods Inc. recalled Crisp & Delicious brand Chicken Breast Nuggets due to a possible salmonella contamination.

CIFA notes that other products may be recalled as the agency continues its food safety investigation.

The codes on the package read 2019 JL 18 on the outer package and 1998M on the inner package. They also have a UPC number of 0 55742 33690 0.

Consumers should not eat the recalled product in the photos shown below. If you think that you are becoming sick from eating recalled product, contact your doctor.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
