The Courier also placed third for Best Website in the over 12,500 circulation category.

The Canadian Community Newspaper Awards celebrate the best in community publishing from across the country. Newspapers of similar circulation size compete against each other and are judged by a panel of industry experts.

This weekend sees the Courier vying for hardware at the Ma Murray Awards competition put on by the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association. In addition to being nominated in the Newspaper Excellence category, Courier nominees include Marina Rockey and Justin Chen (Ad Design Award, collaborative), Dan Toulgoet (Feature Photo-colour, Portrait/Personality Photo and Sports Photo), Allen Garr (Columnist Award), Chris Cheung (Environmental Writing) and John Kurucz (Outdoor Recreation Writing).

Winners will be announced at a gala at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond on April 29.
