If you used a Compass vending machine to pay a Canada Line fare recently, take note: Metro Vancouver transit police say they have discovered a trio of credit/debit card skimmers in two stations.

Authorities made the troubling finding on Sunday, July 8. Two skimmers were located in CVMs at Vancouver International Airport Station and one skimmer in a CVM at Vancouver City Centre Station.

Preliminary investigation indicates that while the skimmers were found late that afternoon, the two in place at the YVR Airport station had not been placed prior to Sunday’s transit service.

However, it has not been determined when the skimmer at Vancouver City Centre’s vending machine had been placed.

Transit police say the skimmers are being analyzed, and they do not know at this time if any data was successfully obtained from the skimmers. They caution that anyone who may have used those vending machines on Sunday should check with their financial institution to ensure their cards have not been compromised.

Metro Vancouver transit police have indicated this is an ongoing investigation.
