A 54-year-old man has come forward in Thursday’s fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a Vancouver man.

The driver in Thursday’s fatal hit-and-run that killed a 39-year-old Vancouver man has turned himself in.

“The 54-year-old driver in this case eventually did the right thing by coming forward,” Vancouver police media relations officer Sgt. Jason Robillard said in a press release. “He has been released pending further investigation. Charges will be determined once a thorough investigation has been completed.”

The man’s vehicle has been seized by VPD collision investigators.

Just after 3 a.m. Thursday a passerby called police after he discovered a man who appeared to have been struck and seriously injured by a vehicle on Kingsway near Glen Drive. The driver allegedly involved did not remain at the scene. The pedestrian, a 39-year-old Vancouver man, was taken to hospital but died a short time later.
