Facebook moving offices to Burrard Street

Facebook's Vancouver corporate office will be growing by 16,000 square feet when it moves to a new location next year.

The social media giant will occupy two floors totalling approximately 36,000 square feet in Cadillac Fairview’s Waterfront Centre, located at the southeast corner of Burrard Street and Canada Place Way.

Facebook is moving to a bigger office space to accommodate the growing needs of their business, a spokesperson for the company told Western Investor. Facebook's current office is a 20,000-square-foot Coal Harbour space, opened in 2013, at 1555 West Pender St. The Waterfront Centre office is expected to open sometime in 2018.

Tech companies continue to dominate downtown Vancouver office demand. This news follows Amazon's plans to open a second office at the southwest corner of Dunsmuir and Homer Streets, expected to add 1,000 new tech jobs to the city.

Faceboook has not commented on how many additional workers the larger Burrard office plans to employ.
