Another Vancouver beach had to be closed to swimming this weekend due to concerns about the level of E. coli in the water.

Vancouver Park Board announced Saturday afternoon that Kits Beach is now closed to swimming due to high E. coli levels.

Earlier this month, Sunset Beach and Trout Lake, as well as Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver and Snug Cove on Bowen Island, were all closed to swimming due to E. coli. Sunset and Ambleside beaches have subsequently re-opened, however, advisories remain in effect for Trout Lake and Snug Cove.

According to Vancouver Coastal Health’s website: “Natural water bodies always have a level of contamination from various sources. The conditions and quality of the water can change quickly due to a number of environmental factors.”
