Man dies in targeted shooting in Surrey

The man was shot in the mid-afternoon

A 30-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in the Surrey neighbourhood of Newton.

Surrey RCMP were called to the scene in the 6700 block of 130th Street in the mid-afternoon.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) subsequently took over investigation of the killing, which is believed to be targeted.

IHIT has identified the victim as Sumeet Randhawa, who, according to media reports, is known to police and has ties to gang activity.

Investigators are urging anyone with further information about the homicide to come forward by calling the IHIT info line or reporting anonymously at @SolveCrime.
