The Metro Vancouver weather forecast finally calls for clear skies, but they won’t last for long.

And while the temperature is expected to reach a high of two degrees today, the forecast calls for frigid weather this evening with clear skies. Specifically, it calls for a low of minus five with a wind chill of minus nine.

Following this, Environment Canada predicts that a precipitation event will take place in the afternoon on Thursday, February 14. Currently, the forecast calls for a 60 per cent chance of wet snow during the day, followed by snow or rain at night.

Friday, February 15 is expected to see rain showers or flurries, followed by showers into the evening.

The forecast also warns that travellers headed to Whistler should prepare for frigid temperatures near minus 12. What’s more, an arctic outflow is expected to produce winds up to 30 km/h, which will generate wind chill values near minus 20 tonight through the Whistler region and Sea to Sky corridor.

If you must go outside in these conditions, dress warmly in layers and stay dry. In addition, you should cover as much exposed skin as possible to avoid frostbite.

Drive with care, especially along coastal routes exposed to outflow winds.
