The Vancouver Police Department's Major Crime secion is investigating Vancouver's third murder in three weeks.

Just after midnight on Feb. 9, police responded to a report of an injured man at a home near Prince Albert Street and East 49th Avenue in South Vancouver.

The man was rushed to hospital, and died a short time later.

No arrests have been made yet, but based on the investigation so far, detectives do not believe the public are at risk.

The investigation is ongoing. No additional information can be provided at this time.

Are the police concerned we already have three murders before Valentine's Day?

"Crime rates ebb and flow and I am hoping they have peaked," Const Jason Doucette said.

Police are in area to canvas for video footage and witnesses.

Meanwhile, police are advising people not to walk alone in Stanley Park after the stabbing death of Lubo Kunik on the seawall February 1 and an assault on an elderly man last November. Police say both attacks seem random and it's not yet known if they are linked.

The year's first homicide was the shooting death of Joseph Billy Bustinski at the Savoy Hotel in the Downtown Eastside on January 28

There were 12 homicides in Vancouver in 2016 compared to 16 in 2015.
