No arrests, witnesses sought, after fatal shooting of B.C. teenager

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — A 19-year-old man has been shot and killed in Abbotsford, B.C.

Sgt. Judy Bird, an Abbotsford police spokeswoman, says in a release that the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Monday at an intersection on the southwestern edge of the city.

She says the unnamed victim, who was a resident of the city, was found at the intersection and was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have sent out a tweet urging any witnesses to come forward.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirms through social media that it's taken over the case from the major crime and gang units of the Abbotsford police.

The team serves 28 communities served by the RCMP as well as four municipal police forces, including Abbotsford.
