SafeCare BC — an industry-funded non-profit for care workers — is calling for donations for its members.

SafeCare BC is asking individuals and organizations to donate extra medical supplies to healthcare workers who work in long-term care homes, hospitals and assisted living.

Operation Project, launched by SafeCare BC, is designed to ensure critically needed protective equipment, such as masks, hand sanitizer and gloves are available for health care workers who are on the frontlines of the pandemic.

“Every day, our member organizations are telling us they are in urgent need of these supplies to stay safe and ensure safe, quality care for our seniors who depend on them,” said Jen Lyle, CEO at SafeCare BC, adding that there were members who had difficulties ordering supplies as early as this February.

The COVID-19 outbreak has disrupted the global supply chain, leading to a severe shortage of protective equipment for health care workers.

According to SafeCare BC, people who have unused and unopened personal medical equipment can go to SafeCareBC’s official website to learn more about what’s needed and how to donate.
