A 34-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested after a stabbing near the seawall in Yaletown Wednesday.

The victim, an 18-year-old man, suffered minor injuries after he and three friends were confronted by the man while they were taking photographs in Coopers Park on Marinaside Crescent.

Just before 7 p.m., Vancouver police officers responded to reports of a man chasing people with a knife in the area of Davie Street and Marinaside Crescent.

Sgt. Aaron Roed, media relations officer, said the man resisted arrest and “several tactical resourcesd were used to protect the public and take him into custody.”

“We are very luck that no one sustained serious injuries, including our officers,” Roed said.

The man remains in custody and police are recommending charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, fail to comply with a release order and obstructing a peace officer.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department’s non-emergency line at 604-717-3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
