PETA are protesting the opening of a new Canada Goose store in Vancouver.

PETA supporters armed with letter boards spelling out the message "Canada Goose Kills" are expected to gather outside the CF Pacific Centre Friday evening to protest the opening of a new Canada Goose store.

PETA's spirited campaign against the retailer spans the U.S., Canada, and other countries around the world.

"Every Canada Goose coat represents the suffering of coyotes who were caught in painful steel traps and geese whose throats were slit," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman.

"PETA is calling on Vancouver consumers to refuse to give a dime to this cruel company until it stops tormenting and killing animals for its coats."

However, a spokesperson from Canada Goose said the allegations were without merrit.

"It’s not surprising, but it is unfortunate to see the lengths misinformed activists will go to in spreading their false narrative about our company’s animal welfare practices," a spokesperson for the brand said.

"Their allegations are without merit; we remain committed to the responsible use and ethical sourcing of all materials in our products.

"PETA and other activist groups have a long history of using sensational and aggressive tactics to try to gain media attention, and this is just another example.

"We sympathize with any Vancouverites exposed to their graphic propaganda.

"We are thrilled to open our first location in Vancouver, and to welcome so many fans, adventurers and future explorers to the store to discover all that Canada Goose has to offer."

The protest is being held at The CF Pacific Centre, 701 W. Georgia St. (at the intersection with Howe Street), on Friday, November 2, at 5:30 p.m.
