Police are focusing on an East Vancouver park today in the search for evidence in the disappearance of 37-year-old Su Yi Liang.

Officers are also hoping to speak to anyone who visited New Brighton Park on Jan. 8 and who may have seen Liang’s 2014 BMW i3.

Liang was reported missing Jan. 10 after she failed to pick up her children from school. The Vancouver Police Department’s major crime section took over the investigation and has determined that the mother of two went missing on Jan. 8 sometime before noon.

“We have determined that Ms. Liang went missing during the morning of Monday, Jan. 8,” Const. Jason Doucette said in a press release. “Detectives have also confirmed Ms. Liang’s BMW i3 was at New Brighton Park within hours of her disappearance. It’s important that we speak with anyone who may have seen her electric car in the parking lot.”

Evidence collected by investigators indicates that Liang’s car, a grey, electric BMW i3, was in the parking lot at New Brighton Park in Jan. 8 just after noon. Her car was found by police at the Rupert Park Pitch & Putt three days later on Jan. 11.

Police previously said Liang disappeared under suspicious circumstances and that she won’t be found alive.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the woman’s home last month, on the same day a man was taken into custody for questioning and later released.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Su Yi Liang, and her activities leading up to Monday, Jan. 8, as well as anyone who might have seen someone driving her grey BMW i3 until Jan. 11, is asked to call the VPD’s major crime section at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
