Vancouver police Tuesday morning announced a second arrest in a months-long investigation by the department’s organized crime section.
On Monday, investigators arrested 27-year-old Matthew Navas-Rivas of Vancouver. The arrest is a result of Project Tactic, an investigation that began last summer. Crown counsel has approved 39 firearms-related charges against Navas-Rivas. He is facing the same long list of charges as co-accused Derek Stephens, who was arrested in November.
At the time police said that officers had seized guns, more than 1,200 rounds of ammunition, multiple high-capacity magazines, silencers, balaclavas, zap-straps, a Taser and handcuffs.
Robillard said the case against the two men is currently subject to a publication ban and no more information would be released.
