The Metro Vancouver weather forecast is calling for a wetter pattern after the region saw decidedly toasty temperatures during the start of the month.

Environment Canada is calling for increasing cloudiness during the day on Monday, May 13 with a high of 17 C. However, the forecast calls for rain to begin Tuesday morning and a high of 13 C. Following this, Wednesday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud during the day followed by a chance of showers in the evening.

The forecast also calls for a chance of rain on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Daily temperatures are still expected to be above the average for May, which is around 16 C.

On Thursday, May 9, 15 weather records were broken across the province and Squamish reached a sizzling high of 29.5 C. On May 10, a whopping 26 weather records were broken across B.C. and Pitt Meadows reached a toasty high of 29.3 C.

Environment Canada has also stated that the presence of a weak El Niño will affect temperatures heading into summer. As such, the department expects that the province will see above average temperatures this summer.
