A section of the Stanley Park seawall remains closed behind yellow police tape after a 61-year-old Vancouver man was murdered near Second Beach late Wednesday night.

A passerby called 911 around 11 p.m. Feb. 1 after coming across the victim who had been stabbed and was dying of his wounds.

Paramedics arrived, but the man died.

Police will not reveal the weapon and are questioning another person who was near the scene, within walking distance of investigators. The person has not been charged.

The homicide is Vancouver’s second of the year, coming less than a week after the city’s first fatal shooting at a Downtown Eastside hotel.

Anyone in area at the time with information is asked to contact the Vancouver police at 604-717-2500 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
