Top 5 Vancouver Courier stories this week

March 15-20, 2015
  • A column by Geoff Olson reluctantly urging Metro Vancouver voters to hold their noses and turn down the proposed 0.5 per cent PST increase to help fund transportation initiatives was our most-read story of the past week. And not by a nose.
  • In second place was yet another opinion piece, this one by recent Webster-winning columnist Allen Garr tearing a strip off the Christy Clark government for both their handling of the above-mentioned plebiscite vote and their decision to hire a separate adviser to review the Vancouver School Board’s finances when one was already in place.
  • Our third most-clicked post this week was a guest column by reader Stewart Prest countering Olson and urging a Yes vote. If the popularity of individual Courier columns are any indication, the polls might be correct about how Metro Vancouver residents plan to vote.
  • Coming in at number four is a story about a new support service for single mothers written by intern Deanna Cheng.
  • Last but not least and despite Rogers Arena not being sold out for the show, plenty of people were nonetheless curious to read about last Sunday’s Nickelback concert. Possibly because nobody would ever know but their Internet providers.
