Top 5 Vancouver Courier stories this week

April 4-10, 2015
  1. Our most-read story over the past week is by sports editor Megan Stewart on the UBC Thunderbird’s new head football coach, six-foot-six former CFL defensive linesman Blake Nill, and his dream of turning the team into a Vanier Cup contender again.
  2. In second place is a cautionary tale for anyone who might think it would make for a funny April Fool’s Day prank to wear a mask and kidnap an accomplice at (fake) gunpoint. Vancouver police failed to see the humour.
  3. Our third most-clicked post is a column contrasting the women on new reality TVs series Hockey Wives, which includes Canucks goalie Ryan Miller’s better half, with married women who prefer to play the game themselves.
  4. Coming in at number four is yet another sports story, this one from our ongoing series highlighting significant events in Vancouver history, that recalls the day in 1996 when the fledgling Vancouver Grizzlies managed to finally win a basketball game to put an end to their record NBA losing streak.
  5. Last but not least is a story by freelancer Chris Bruntlett about pedal-pushing MLA David Eby and his preferred method of riding around his Vancouver-Point Grey riding.
