Top 5 Vancouver Courier stories this week

April 11-17, 2015
  1. Unsurprisingly, our most-read story over the past week was about the oil spill in English Bay. Surprisingly, it wasn’t one of the breaking news stories regarding it or thoughtful analysis about the political or environmental repercussions, but rather one written by Courier intern Deanna Cheng that explained how the most efficient booms that soak up oil are made of hair. The repulsive photo (see above) may have helped as well.
  2. In second place was a column by Michael Geller, who has first-hand experience in the matter, about how former city planners and city hall don’t always get along well together.
  3. Our third most-clicked post, written by Brent Richer of the North Shore News, was about the bodies of the two unnamed pilots who died in the Carson Air crash in the North Shore mountains having been successfully recovered.
  4. Coming in at number four was entertainment editor Michael Kissinger’s hard-hitting piece about the tragic Campari shortage facing the city of Vancouver and its bitter consequences for cocktail enthusiasts.
  5. Our fifth most-read story, also by Richter, regarded early speculation that the missing Carson Air flight would likely be found crashed somewhere in the North Shore Mountains. Sadly, this turned out to be the case.
