Burnaby RCMP officers are investigating a mysterious early-morning car fire that could be linked to a Surrey homicide.

A vehicle was found in flames this morning at Fraser Park Drive and Byrne Creek Road in South Burnaby.

The spot is at the Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park and across from an industrial park – an area known to be quiet at night.

Police are investigating to see if the burning vehicle had been used in another crime and then dumped afterwards.

On December 1, shortly before 11 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the 13600-block of 114 Avenue after a report of shots fired was received. Upon police attendance, one adult male was found deceased and one injured male from apparent gunshot wounds. The injured man has been transported to the hospital in serious condition.

IHIT has been engaged and are actively investigating the incident. The victims are known to police and this is believed to be a targeted incident.
