Traffic stops leads Vancouver police to loaded gun, drugs

A North Vancouver man and two teens are now facing several charges

A routine traffic stop netted Vancouver police a loaded gun and a slew of charges against a North Vancouver man and two teens.

At around 8 p.m. Thursday, Vancouver police officers on patrol spotted a black Ford Escape traveling the side streets of the Downtown Eastside, just south of East Hastings. The constables stopped the car because it had no insurance. There were three teens in the car along with a 46-year-old North Vancouver man, and a loaded .22-calibre Glock firearm.

All four people were arrested and taken to jail. Police also found a “significant amount” of drugs when the suspects were searched after the arrest.

The North Vancouver man and two of the teens, 18-year-old and 17-year-old boys from Vancouver, are now facing a number of drug and weapons charges. A 16-year-old Vancouver girl was released without charges.

Vancouver police say officers have seized more than 150 firearms so far this year.
