Vancouver police arrest Prince George man in historical sex assaults

Investigators believe there may be more victims and witnesses

Vancouver police have arrested a Prince George man for alleged historical sexual assaults, and believe there may be more victims out there.

Kevin Alexander Roberts, 46, was arrested by Vancouver police on Monday for offences that were allegedly committed in Vancouver and Prince George involving a young girl.

The victim, now an adult, reported the crimes to Vancouver police. Crown counsel has approved several charges against Roberts including sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual assault with a weapon, invitation to sexual touching, assault and assault causing bodily harm.

“Police believe there are additional survivors, who would be between the ages of four and 18 at the time of the offences,” media relations officer Sgt. Jason Robillard said.

There is a publication ban in place to protect the identity of the victim and he would only say that the alleged incidents date back several years.

“It’s over the course of a timeframe, it’s several offences, it’s one victim and we believe there are more,” Robillard said.

“We are appealing to anybody that may recognize Kevin Roberts,” he said, describing Roberts as 5’7” to 5’8”, 210 pounds and bald with a goatee. He added that he has a tattoo of a woman and a snake on his right upper arm.

Robillard said that Roberts is a truck driver on routes throughout B.C. and Alberta, has worked as a school bus driver in the Prince George area and a mover, and has a transient lifestyle. Police caught up with him in Chilliwack Monday.

“He just happened to be there at the time. He was in transit as he’s a truck driver so that just happened to be arrested,” Robillard said.

“These types of crimes are extremely traumatic and survivors live with life-long impact,” he said. “We are providing this information and a photo of the suspect, with the hopes that we will uncover more information and help prevent this from happening to someone else.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the VPD’s sex crime unit at 604-717-0600 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
