Vancouver police have identified the elderly woman found dead in her apartment over the weekend.

Eighty-seven-year-old Elizabeth Poulin was found dead in her apartment near Kingsway Avenue and Kerr Street by a relative Saturday morning.

At around 8 a.m. police received a 911 call from the relative who found her. Vancouver police media relations officer Sgt. Jason Robillard said investigators have been working around the clock to determine what led to Poulin’s death and to identify a suspect.

“This investigation is a top priority for the police,” he said.

Robillard would not comment on if Poulin lived alone or if there were any signs of a break in. However, he did say that based on the evidence collected so far “investigators do not believe that the public is at risk.”

This is the 15th homicide of the year.

Police are asking that anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of Kingsway Avenue and Kerr Street between Friday evening and Saturday morning is asked to call detectives at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
