Vancouver police have identified a white Dodge Durango as a possible vehicle of interest in last week’s shooting death in Kitsilano, and investigators are looking for anyone who might have dash-cam footage from the night of the murder.

Just after 8:30 p.m. April 16, 30-year-old Manoj Kumar, a Vancouver resident, was shot and killed while sitting in a car parked near West Fourth Avenue and Burrard Street. A few hours later, police found the Durango near West 22nd Avenue and Yew Street. It had been set on fire.

Police previously said it appears this was a targeted shooting. However, Kumar was not known to police and had no obvious connections to a criminal lifestyle.

Detectives now believe the Durango is linked to the shooting and are appealing to anyone with dash-cam video from the night of the shooting to call police — specifically anyone who may have been driving in the Kitsilano and Arbutus areas that night between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

“Even the smallest piece of information can be crucial to the investigation,” media relations office Sgt. Jason Robillard said in a news release.

Anyone with dash-cam footage or any information about the homicide is asked to call homicide investigators at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
