Vancouver police looking for driver in East Van hit and run

An EVO collided with a Nissan SUV at the intersection of Skeena and East Georgia

Vancouver police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in an East Vancouver hit and run last summer.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 8, a ride-share EVO car collided with a grey Nissan SUV at the intersection of Skeena and East Georgia streets. The driver of the EVO briefly got out and checked on the injured driver of the SUV but then drove away.

The 52-year-old man driving the Nissan was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

“Regardless of who’s at fault in a collision, drivers are required by law to exchange information,” Const. Jason Doucette said in a news release. “Not only did that not happen here, but the driver of the EVO got back into his car and simply left.

“We have recovered video that shows the driver of the EVO and have confirmed it was not the registered EVO client,” he added. “We are asking the public to call us if they recognize the young man in the photo.”

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 604-717-9360 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
