A Vancouver police officer is facing charges following a June 2018 crash involving two police vehicles that sent three officers and two pedestrians to hospital.
The B.C. Prosecution Service announced Wednesday that Const. Jose Domingo has been charged with driving without reasonable consideration.
The collision occurred at around 8:30 p.m. June 29, 2018.
Two police vehicles were responding with lights and sirens to a call in the downtown core when they collided at the intersection of Smithe and Howe streets. Three officers in the two vehicles and two pedestrians, both women in the 30s, were also injured.
All five were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and were later released.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. investigated the incident and determined that there were reasonable grounds to believe the officers involved driving the two vehicles had committed an offense and submitted a report to the prosecution service. No Charges were approved against the other police officer involved.
The charge against Domingo was sworn on June 28 and he is expected to appear in court Aug. 8.
Domingo is the third Vancouver police officer to face a driving-related charge this year. Constables Luke Bokenfohr and Andrew Peters are both facing charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm in separate on-duty incidents last year.
