Vancouver police have released a composite sketch of the suspect in a sex assault last week at an East Van park and are appealing for anyone who may recognize the man to call investigators.
At around 5 p.m. on Nov. 25, a 14-year-old girl got off a bus on Kingsway and walked north on Miller Street. As she walked through the neighbourhood, she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man and pulled into the bushes in Brewers Park, just of Commercial Street.
The suspect sexually assaulted the girl before running east through the park.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his late 20s to early 30s, 5’7” to 5’10” tall with a medium build. He is believed to weigh between 160 and 200 pounds. He has dark brown eyes, an oval shaped face, and short, brown, wavy hair that is cut short on the sides. He was wearing a black rain jacket, dark blue jeans and black boots.
Investigators are also looking for any dash-cam footage from anyone who may have been driving in the area between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Nov. 27.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the composite sketch, or who may have any information about the crime, is asked to call detectives with VPD’s sex crimes unit at 604-717-0602 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
