Vancouver police renew plea for information on wanted sex offender

Investigators believe Joseph Davis has purchased a car and is driving to Winnipeg

Vancouver police Thursday renewed its plea for information about a convicted sex offender who walked away from a Vancouver halfway house Monday night.

Police are on the lookout for Joseph Davis, 47, a four-time federal offender who is currently serving a four-year sentence for sexual assault. He was living at a Vancouver halfway house under a long-term supervision order but missed his curfew Monday night. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Police said Thursday that investigators have learned that Davis purchased a grey, 2001 Mercedes ML320, which may have the B.C. licence plate HB7 41S.

“Police believe that he may be travelling in the Mercedes and may be headed east to Winnipeg,” media relations officer Sgt. Jason Robillard said in a press release.

Davis is white, 5’8” tall and weighs 178 pounds. He has short blond hair, blue eyes and numerous tattoos on his arms. He was last seen wearing a black rain jacket, blue jeans, work boots and was carrying a small backpack.

Anyone who sees Joseph Davis or the grey Mercedes, or has any information about his whereabouts, is asked to call 911 immediately.
