Young woman, 33, dies after being shot in East Vancouver

On May 24, police were still on the scene at East 7th and St. Catherines to investigate Vancouver's eighth homicide. A 33-year-old Vancouver woman was fatally shot.

A quiet East Vancouver neighbourhood is still cordoned off on Wednesday morning as Vancouver police investigate the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old woman.

The woman has been identified as Vancouver resident Janice Nicole Bryant. Police are saying it was a targeted shooting.

Just after 5 p.m. yesterday, police received reports of shots fired near East Seventh Avenue and St. Catherines Street. Officers arrived and found Bryant suffering from gunshot wounds. She was rushed to hospital where she died a short time later.

No arrests have been made yet. Based on the information collected so far, investigators do not believe this was a random shooting.

This is Vancouver’s eighth homicide in 2017.
