ALL THE REASONS WHY WE'RE EXCITED FOR THE NEW SARAH JESSICA PARKER SHOE LINE

Before she became a shoe designer, she was the woman every girl could relate to on style and love. If it’s one thing Sarah Jessica Parker learned from 6 years on the set of Sex and the City, it’s shoes.
Sarah Jessica Parker's new shoe collection

Before she became a shoe designer, she was the woman every girl could relate to on style and love. If it’s one thing Sarah Jessica Parker learned from 6 years on the set of Sex and the City, it’s shoes. On February 28th 2014, Parker will be launching her new shoe line (SJP) with George Malkemus who is the vice president of Manolo Blahnik. Unlike her character Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City, you won’t be seeing a whole lot of bells and whistles (no spikes or flame embellishments) in her new line. Parker told Style.com that her line will be simple and will withstand the style test of time.

The shoes will run you around $300 at Nordstrom and her collection will even include handbags and a trench coat (perhaps a warm up to a clothing collection soon?) The shoe bag coat combination is Parker’s secret for creating a beautiful, sexy and feminine look. The shoes are meant to be versatile taking you from a wedding to parent teacher conference. For those reasons, Parker insists that her $300 plus line is appropriately termed “investment pieces”.  If you’re wondering what Manolo Blahnik’s thoughts are on the new line, you may have to keep waiting.

Malkemus told Vanity Fair Daily “Well, I wouldn’t put anything past [Manolo Blahnik], but you know what, it’s meant to be two different worlds. As I said, this is a different woman. This is a woman who doesn’t go into Bergdorf Goodman and spend $20,000 on shoes in an afternoon.”

Each person may have their own reasons for being head over heels when it comes to this highly anticipated collection but we took the liberty to come up with some of our own:

1.     You won’t have to re-mortgage your house for shoes. At $300 (ish) for a pair of single soled “Carrie” heels, we can deal.

2.     The collection has soft colors that are ultra feminine.

3.     Remember the pair of Manolo Blahnik Campari Mary Jane Heels that Carrie thought was an urban shoe myth when she raided Vogue’s closet? Brace yourselves. The SJP collection has a pair of black Mary Jane.

4.     She’s bringing back strappy heels for spring and summer. If you’re into strappy, this is your line since the collection is heavily focused on that.

So what are most people thinking about the collection so far?

Jessica K:  “Expected more…underwhelmed”

Mary Taylor: “wow these shoes are all so Carrie! I think SJP just played herself in SATC!!”

Claire Gottardi: “Perfect shoes for the summer.”

Dannielle Willis: “These are too perfect for words. My feet are calling out for them.”
