Spotlight On: Paris Fashion Week Fall 2017 RTW

11 looks that give life to spring

There’s no doubt that Parisians know what they’re doing when it comes to style that withstands the ebb and flow of a fast paced consumerist culture associated to the fashion industry. Parisian designers fuss less with prints and play with silhouettes to create a sense of intrigue. For this reason, PFW will often breathe new light on classic pieces which can inspire us to think about garments that we add to our closet or even rework a few pieces we have lying around to make it more contemporary. Thankfully, Parisian designers make it easy to pair and build layers of intricacies within a look. You can literally throw on a garment, keep it classic and effortless or add elements to create a more refine look. It’s both ready to wear as much as it has day to night versatility built into it.

If you’re into investment pieces, consider this season’s PFW collections hitting the runway. Even though fashions lives in the future (we’re already into Fall 2017 Ready to Wear collections), Parisians never shy away from dresses even in the fall which means transitional pieces are heavy at play. Rules on fall colours are out the door. Valentino’s runway collection blends elements of spring color with fall design structure. Akris plays with layering using lighter fabrics for dresses and coats to pair and complete the look. Celine stays classic with feminine suiting and neutrals.

On the streets, style influencers are playing with texture and movement. Black continues to stay a staple with an insurgence of boots. On the beauty front, a bright red lip pairs with darker tones while neutral tones keep coloured looks balanced.
