Re: "Social housing provider operates hotel brothels," May 16.
In reading Mark Hasiuk's column, it causes one to question how our tax dollars are being used to "help" vulnerable girls/women in the Downtown Eastside to be housed. Does "helping" mean enabling "supervised prostitution activites" as a solution to assisting girls/ women to pay their rent and put food on the table? I know of other housing programs provided by organizations a such as the YWCA that truly help women in need. They provide housing, too-in supervised facilities that do not include include opening their doors to pimps/johns. It's time for the provincial government to do an evaluation of "housing services" in the Downtown Eastside.
