One charge has now been sworn in the fatal crash outside Horseshoe Bay last month.

On Aug. 11, the driver of a southbound van crossed over the yellow line on Pascoe Road and collided with a northbound vehicle. Sage Massey, 29, was killed in the crash.

The Crown has since sworn one count of driving without due care and attention against Alban Queyras, a French national who was visiting West Vancouver at the time of the crash. He has since returned to Paris on bail.

Distraught, Massey’s father Clive acknowledged the charge but said it won’t bring his daughter back.

“It’s just a tragedy all around. It’s a tragedy for him. It’s a tragedy for Sage’s family. It’s a tragedy for everyone who knew her,” he said.

An obituary in the North Shore News, placed by her family, described Massey as someone who loves forests and streams and “all of the people who were part of her life.”
