Gone are the days where gym clothes stay in the gym. A visit to the new RYU store on West 4th will have you looking at workout clothes in a whole new way. RYU (respect your universe) is headed by Marcello Leone who has been a leader of fashion in Vancouver. The concept behind RYU is succinct: beautiful enough for you to wear outside the gym and tough enough to endure the most intensive workouts.
To ensure the collection will stand up to the challenges of any workout, the line was created using input from athletics around Vancouver. Versatility has been engrained into each garment produced by RYU. From backpacks that open fully to access everything that’s at the bottom of the bag to workout pants that also incorporates elements of shape wear into the garment.
The 5700 sq.ft. space located on 1745 West 4th Ave in Kitsilano will include charge stations all around the store (and in change rooms), juice bar, patio seating and a workout space on the second level. The space is designed to be a destination for meetings and shopping in a non rushed environment. Lots of seating is available throughout the store and on the patio. Fitness classes will also be held on the second level to complete the experience.
Here are a few things you can look forward to:
1. The RYU apparel line will consist of four distinct collections: There + Back, Rest + Recovery, Train + Develop, Challenge + Compete.
2. Their bag collection will give new meaning to versatility.
Their duffle bag is pretty impressive and includes: shoulder strap that cinches down into a handle with an easy click of a buckle, looks and feels small but has maximum carrying capacity, extra wide opening for easy access to get to the bottom of the bag, magnetic closure with self landing flap, water and scuff resistant.
3. Workout pants that come with a TriLayr waistband that compresses and shape.
Additional features of their workout pants includes: locker loop to make hanging easier, butt lifting design, inner pocket that you can stash your phone in and odour control gusset mesh.
4. Their price points are comparable to other established brands.
The RYU store is scheduled to open on November 27th, 2015.
