The beauty market has seen a lot of changes in the last year or so. First there was the Korean beauty product trend. It seemed like every blogger and editor was raving about how great it was even though some of them were a little unconventional (e.g. snail masks). The key to success for Korean beauty products was simply that people said that it worked. Then there was the whole organic beauty product movement which promises to get you the result without all those chemicals and dyes they put in beauty products you find off the shelf. The goal was to integrate your lifestyle to include an organic beauty regime.

It all sounds great and my beauty shelf has actually been stocked with more organic products that it ever has in my life. However, there are still a few tried and true beauty products that I can’t abandon. Every season, I try new beauty products that if I like it, I integrate into my existing beauty products. Here are a few beauty products I’ll be bringing into the holiday season and the new year.

1. La Prairie’s Creme Foundation/Concealer: This foundation will give you the full coverage you want for a photo ready look. Also try: La Prairie’s new light weight Luxe Cream which lifts and firms skin. (Available at Nordstrom)

2. Ilia and Tata Harper (ORGANIC!): Ilia recently launched their new eye shadow, eyeliner and foundation for those who are a fan of organic beauty products. For those who like to breeze through their makeup routine, try their eyeshadow stick. A trusted favourite beauty product that’s been on my beauty shelf for awhile is Tata Harper’s hydrating toner. I use it every night before bed to keep my skin looking healthy. (Available at Beauty Mark)

3. Body Shop (ORGANIC!): New on the market is Body Shop’s Oils of Life and Spa of the World collection. This beauty series is great to hydrate fall skin and the ingredients are all organically sourced. Body Shop is also refreshing the look of their products so be sure to pop into a store close to check it out.

4. Beauty at Nordstrom: In case you haven’t checked out the new Nordstrom store in Vancouver, let’s just say you won’t be short of choices especially when it comes to their beauty department. For fall, I tend to focus on exfoliating (Kate Somerville’s exfoliating treatment), hydrating (Kate Somerville’s Age Arrest Anti Wrinkle Cream) and a serum (Clarin’s Double Serum or Clinique’s revitalizing serum) to to complete my skin care routine. This season’s beauty trends includes a focus on eyes  (try: Anastasia’s brow and eye express kit) and natural skin (try: Laura Mercier’s foundation primer) paired with a light weight BB cream.
