Letters: Why is Delta Manor not being considered for school expansion?

It just seems very wasteful to spend that kind of money when you have perfectly good elementary school sitting only partly used by adult education

Editor:

I read in the April 18th edition of the Optimist, that the Delta School District is planning an $8 million addition to Ladner Elementary for six additional classrooms.

Couldn’t the district re-open Delta Manor (or even just part of it) and accommodate way more students for a far less costly outlay?

The Ladner Elementary catchment includes a good part of the former Delta Manor catchment so lots of the potential students must live in that Delta Manor area.

It just seems very wasteful to spend that kind of money when you have perfectly good elementary school sitting only partly used by adult education. I hope this plan is rethought.
