Just like the little black dress, a classic suit is a power woman’s best friend. There’s been a resurgence of suits made for the modern woman. Gone are the days of the ill fitted nine to five suits. Today, designers are aiming for a well-tailored look that is truly an ode to the modern working woman.

This season, Italian brand Max Mara is all about celebrating women in suits. They recognize the challenge of finding a suit that fits properly and has integrated a Tailored Suit Project to fill that gap. I recently had the opportunity to preview Max Mara’s new store downtown in Pacific Centre to learn more about their fall collection and the new project.

In terms of what to expect from Max Mara for the fall, the brand is staying consistent and bringing us lots of luxury with the use of fabrics such as cashmere, fur and silk. Also, don’t count lighter hues out for fall and expect some great jackets with a play on collar constructions.

Tailored suits are also prevalent in the collection for fall. Max Mara is launching the Tailored Suit Project which will allow women to purchase pieces that are tailored to fit their body. The project is currently being offered exclusively in 22 Max Mara stores worldwide and each suit takes approximately 360 minutes to construct from start to finish.
