Everyone has been patiently waiting for the opening of Nordstrom, which will be located at Pacific Centre in downtown Vancouver. Vancouverites are eager to shop designer brands without having to cross the border or pay shipping costs often associated to shopping online.
Nordstrom has recently announced that Chris Wanlass will step into the manager position for the Vancouver Store after working for the company for 23 years. Wanlass began his career in 1992 as a stock person for their Utah location and soon rose to undertake positions as assistant manager and buyer for the company.
“Chris is is a proven leader who sets the bar high for himself and surrounds himself with people who excel at taking care of customers,” said Karen McKibbin, president of Nordstrom Canada. “His varied experiences within the company will play a key role in helping to bring our Nordstrom culture to customers at our Pacific Centre flagship store.”
Wanlass plans to reside in Yaletown with his partner along with their two children. “There is an incredible energy in the heart of Vancouver,” said Wanlass. “With people living and working downtown, plus such strong entertainment, conventions, hospitality, major sports venues and cruise ship traffic, Vancouver is truly one-of-a-kind and we couldn’t be more excited about opening our store here and earning our customers’ business.”
Nordstrom has also announced that they will be posting 44 managerial positions on March 3, 2015 and will also be hiring approximately 1,000 employees for sales and support positions in June 2015.
The opening date for Nordstrom in Vancouver is set for September 18th, 2015.
