The most anticipated reveal this season was definitely Oscar de la Renta’s fall 2015 collection. This is the debut of a collection since de la Renta’s death in October 2014. French designer Peter Copping is the successor of the brand who was chosen by de la Renta himself before his death. Each seat for the fall 2015 show had a type written note by Copping that said, “I am immensely proud to have been chosen as the creative director of Oscar de la Renta. Unfortunately things did not go according to our plans and I never had the chance to work with Oscar, which is something I deeply regret.”

Copping has worked closely with the Oscar de la Renta team for this collection and was highly cohesive to the past collections that de la Renta presented. Copping drew inspiration for the collection from what he saw around him like the view of the Empire State and played with colors and textures. Copping brought Oscar’s love for home and gardens and incorporated elements of it into the collection. We saw midnight blues, clean whites, boucle coats and evening gowns for his Fall 2015 collection. There’s no doubt that Copping was able to stay true to de la Renta’s legacy with this sophisticated, romantic and whimsical collection.

“With [Copping’s] assured, grown-up collection, Copping proved that he is more than up to calibrating this delicate balance—riffing on many of the beloved late designer’s familiar themes,” said Vogue editor Hamish Bowles.
