Rare sighting of a mink frolicking in South Burnaby

For a city as urban as Burnaby, we do manage to see a lot of wildlife around here. Coyotes, deer, bears, herons and beavers – especially at Burnaby Lake. But mink? That’s a first for me.

For a city as urban as Burnaby, we do manage to see a lot of wildlife around here.

Coyotes, deer, bears, herons and beavers – especially at Burnaby Lake.

But mink?

That’s a first for me. I was able to watch a mink frolicking around Byrne Creek in South Burnaby thanks to this video by Paul Cipywnyk.

In the video, the mink adorable scurries to and fro in the water before disappearing past a heron standing there wondering what that little brown thing is.

I hate that minks get raised only to be killed for coats.

Fur is murder.
