Vancouver designer Nicole Bridger’s spring line for this year is all about bright colors. Her mix of fun separates that you can take into the fall season will make great investment pieces. This season, Nicole has collaborated with artist Zoe Pawlak (who also happens to be a close friend) and transformed some of Pawlak’s abstract artwork into the prints for her collection.

Like most seasons, Nicole was inspired by life lesson and chose “ready for love” for her spring/summer 2014 collection. We decided to ask Nicole some questions about her collection this season and also answer some questions about herself like whether she’s into the cronut craze.

Q: Your collection this season is called "Ready for Love". What's the story behind that?

A: I called this collection “Ready For Love”. It is about arriving at a place where I am ready to dissolve the boundaries I have created that keep me from having abundant love in my life. I don’t just mean romantic love but all love. Love for friends and family, love for experiences and infrastructure, love for our planet and universe, love for myself. What are the fears that each of us is holding on to that’s restricting the love from flowing?

Q: What is your favorite piece out of your collection this season and why?

A: Soulful Dress. It is a new style, super elegant, bold prints and colours. You will absolutely get noticed in that dress and feel sexy and comfortable.

Q: What do you think is the most difficult part of the design process?

A: Sourcing fabrics that meet my aesthetic and my values

Q: You collaborated with a friend for the collection this season, how did you manage to integrate both perspectives?

A: Pretty simply because she let me choose from artwork that she already had created. We then collaborate on what scale, colors etc would look good on the different fabrics.

Getting to know Nicole: Just because we're curious what gives her the shivers and who's her celebrity style muse.

1. Favorite season: this is cheesy but there is something to love about every season and I love that living in Vancouver we really get to experience different seasons. Rain, snow, blooms and sun. they are all beautiful.

5. Would you wait in line for 3 hours for a cronut (yes or no): I don’t think id wait 3hrs for anything. So no, and I’ve never had a cronut.

7. PC or Mac: PC

8. One thing that gives you the shivers: listening to someone sing live.
