It’s not often that a property in Victoria makes it into a national top 10 priciest homes list. But, according to real estate website Point2Homes, this unbelievable home is Canada’s eighth most-expensive penthouse currently on the market (although not if you include all condos). And yes, the priciest is in Vancouver (here).
Listed privately at $8.9 million, the home takes up the top three floors of the turret atop Shoal Point, a well-known luxury condo building that sits at the mouth of Victoria Harbour. The penthouse includes the glass observation level at the top of the building, and enjoys epic views from every room.
The three-level home has a whopping 4,810 square feet of living space, which is mostly given over to entertaining, eating and relaxing, since there are currently just two bedrooms (plus four bathrooms).
The condo has direct elevator access to a generous foyer with fireplace – one of nine fireplaces in the home. There is a sprawling kitchen with casual eating area, a large formal dining room, a double-height living space with galleried second level, a wood-panelled study/den and a glass conservatory/sunroom.
An internal private elevator takes you to a master bedroom level with dual ensuite bathrooms, a massive dual dressing room, an impossibly glamorous laundry room, plus two decks and a hot tub. The 360-degree rooftop conservatory – complete with glass-covered fish pond – is on the top floor (see top image, above).
For outdoor living, there are a total of nine balconies and terraces of various sizes, some of which are covered – all offering perfect options for sitting out, depending on the weather and time of day. The home also includes four large storage rooms including a temperature-controlled wine cellar and tasting room, and comes with three underground parking spaces. Building amenities include a Monday-to-Friday concierge service, a fitness centre with large indoor pool and weight/exercise room, a putting green, and bicycle and kayak storage.
The property was assessed in July 2018 at $4,123,000, slightly down from the previous year’s $4,184,000.
