A proposal to tear down four Clarke Road homes to make way for a six-storey, 73-unit development will be going to a public hearing July 9.

Dolomiti Homes has applied to rezone four properties from 660 to 700 Clarke to go alongside an assembly of three six-storey buildings to the northeast already in the development process.

According to a city staff report to council, the owner also tried to acquire an office building on the south end of the block for the development. It’s occupied by a flower shop and a veterinary clinic whose operator recently relocated from a different site in the area because of redevelopment and didn’t want to move because of the effect it would have on the clinic’s client base.

A mix of 30 one-bedroom, 30 two-bedroom and 13 three-bedroom units ranging from 515 to 1,100 sq. ft. is being proposed. A greenway is also being planned. It will include a walkway, lighting seating and landscaping.

Council approved first reading Monday.
