Authorities are investigating after a man was spotted standing on top of a moving party bus in Richmond last week.

The Passenger Transportation Branch (PTB) has also asked the public to come forward with any information about the incident on the Highway 99 southbound onramp from Steveston Highway last Tuesday evening, July

In the video, posted on Instagram, the man, in a white dress shirt and black pants, is seen trying to keep his balance on the roof of the bus as it drove slowly along.

Thankfully, the driver pulled aside before heading onto the highway.

It’s unclear whether the man then climbed off the roof.

“It is unsafe and illegal in British Columbia to stand on top of a moving vehicle and this includes party buses and limos,” said the Ministry of Transportation in a statement to the Richmond News.

According to the Ministry of Transportation, there is a maximum of $1,500 fine per violation for an operator that breaches the Passenger Transportation regulations.

The ministry added that the maximum penalty will increase to $50,000, as of this fall, due to regulatory changes.

There is an ongoing investigation and the PTB is asking anyone with information to contact them at 604-527-2198 or passengertransportationbr@gov.bc.ca
