New condo building proposed under Grandview-Woodland Community Plan

If approved, the project would replace eight single-family homes

Two, six-storey mixed-use buildings could be coming to a site at Garden Drive between East Eighth Avenue and Broadway.

If approved, the project would replace eight single-family homes.

Porte Communities filed a rezoning application for the land at 2406 to 2488 Garden Dr., which is close to Nanaimo Street.

Integra Architecture Inc. designed the project.

The two-building development would feature a total of 109 condo units, commercial retail space at grade level fronting Broadway, and a floor space ratio of 2.83.

Proposed units include 24 studios, 30 one-bedrooms, 38 two-bedrooms and 17 three bedrooms, while 118 parking spaces and 261 bicycle spaces are envisioned.

The application is being considered under the Grand-Woodland Community Plan.

An open house runs from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Croatian Cultural Centre Nov. 4.
