‘Sculptural’ office building envisioned for Mount Pleasant’s West Second Avenue

Project features angular roofline, along with a glass and concrete exterior

Strand Development has filed a development permit application with the City of Vancouver to build a four-storey, mixed-use building, which features an unusual angular roofline and a glass and concrete exterior, at 302 West 2nd Ave. at Alberta Street.

The application describes the design as “sculptural.”

The ground floor would be reserved for manufacturing purposes, while the three upper storeys would be for office uses to serve Mount Pleasant’s “burgeoning” tech community, according to the application. The site is near Olympic Village.

The proposed floor space ratio (FSR) is 0.51, while the peak height would be 18.3 metres.

Three levels of underground parking are planned. MCMP Architects is working on the project.

Written comments about the application are being accepted until May 21 to be considered in the staff review, although comments will be considered up until the date of the decision.
